Love your story. The bored teen thing reminds me of a story my sister told of her perpetually bored and unimpressed teen at a fancy hotel on the beach where they had just been upgraded to a suite overlooking the ocean within inches of the sand. She could see the internal struggle taking place within her daughter - acknowledge the wonderfulness of the circumstance or feign disinterest. Fortunately she succumbed to joy.
