Back when there were just one hundred days left in the year I challenged myself to publish ten Substacks before it ended, yet here I am, halfway to my goal with fewer than six days on the calendar. The question now looms: Do I risk irritating readers with a deluge of posts in order to achieve my goal?
Here’s the thing with writing. If you think too much about the reader, you tend to get hung up. Might as well post a placard: Danger Ahead.
(It reminds me of the man who constantly told his wife, You care too much what other people think.)
Publishing the first five essays has been such fun, it seems a shame to stop midway simply because the optics are not right. So what they didn’t appear in ten-day increments; that the cadence of perfect pacing was absent?
Finish the race.
I just do not see how can communicate in a blog without concern nor worry of what a reader will think. Even though you may not meet your 2024 goal, I look forward to your every post. You can commend yourself with attracting and audience that finds your writing has substance that is interesting and compelling. You have motivated me to seek out some of your interesting book reads over the years. I hope you will continue sharing your thoughtful writing.
I'm woefully negligent regarding goals and deadlines. My pledge this new year is to stop such nonsense and have fun doing what I please, when and how I want. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
