I just do not see how can communicate in a blog without concern nor worry of what a reader will think. Even though you may not meet your 2024 goal, I look forward to your every post. You can commend yourself with attracting and audience that finds your writing has substance that is interesting and compelling. You have motivated me to seek out some of your interesting book reads over the years. I hope you will continue sharing your thoughtful writing.

I'm woefully negligent regarding goals and deadlines. My pledge this new year is to stop such nonsense and have fun doing what I please, when and how I want. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I am sorry but I don't get what this post is about - other than talking about writing. It seems that's the only thing anyone can write about. I am looking for the substance, the stuff that makes you think, but I don't see much of that anywhere. Unless you know different of course

Nick, thank for reading the post, and especially, for commenting. You are right. Without any context, it falls flat. The context was that I had promised myself that I would take the time to publish a certain number of Substacks prior to the year’s end and that I was concerned about falling down on the goal. I was speculating about how thinking about an audience can get in the way of creativity, which I hope is relevant to a larger context.
