I really like the podcast version of your interesting and insightful summary of the Wolff books. I am eager to find these books in an audio format. I am very familiar with bullshit artists through my husband's failed business ventures several years ago. One of his former associates is serving a prison sentence and another committed suicide. With a business venture, one can do a tax write off and move forward with eyes and ears wide open. A bullshit artist parent and child relationship is much deeper and uglier. I can imagine that having parent that continuously spews lies as being very painful and scarring. Sheila, thank you for sharing and making me think this morning.
Abbie, I so appreciate your comment. The scoundrels involved in your husband's failed business ventures sound just awful. How traumatic for all involved.
Both these books are remarkable. To think that two brothers could produce such literary memoirs based on their early lives is uncanny. Both brothers, living two different lives, literary giants... I've never heard anything like it, well except for the Bronte sisters. I hope you can find audio versions of the Wolff books.
